2014 World Cup: Brazil vs. Croatia and Opening Ceremonies Open Thread

Today's Games: Brazil vs. Croatia, 4 PM ET

Buda Mendes

So, today's a day. It's a day like any other day. A Thursday, in fact. Except...IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF THE FREAKING WORLD CUP GUYS ARE YOU EXCITED RIGHT NOW HOLY CRAP!!!!

This is our first open thread of the tournament. From today forward, we will have daily open discussion threads to cover all games all day. Check in to get lineups, talk to each other, discuss the action, whatever. Here's a quick guide to what you can expect today.

And of course, JOIN THE DISCUSSION IN THE COMMENTS! IT'S THE WORLD CUP, BABY!

The Games

Brazil vs. Croatia, 4 PM ET - Nothing to see here Revs-related. Robinho, a purported transfer target, is not in the squad because he hasn't really been that great lately. Julio Cesar, a Toronto FC player, is actually the starting goalkeeper, though.

Steve's Drinking Scale

It's the first game of the tournament, so I'll keep it low(ish) key. Plus I have stuff to do later since I'm studying for the Bar Exam and all that. But I'll polish off a pint bottle of Weyerbacher Blasphemy, not because it has anything to do with the teams playing today, but because it's 11.8% and it was in my fridge.

How Do I Watch?

In America, the game is on ESPN and Univision. Check out LivesoccerTV for any other information.
