The New England Revolution tried to add defender Dave Romney during the summer transfer window, according to Doug McIntyre of Yahoo Sports.

Romney, 26, has been with the LA Galaxy since he joined the league in 2015. Romney became a regular contributor in 2017 when he made 29 appearances. One year later he featured in 28 games.

The California native has been less active in 2019 as he’s only made six appearances under Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

The Revs have long needed help along the back line, so it makes sense that they’d be interested in adding Romney, who can play in the center or on the left. Additionally, Revolution head coach Bruce Arena knows Romney from his days with the Galaxy. According to the MLS Players Association, Romney’s guaranteed compensation is $118,950.00.

For whatever reason the move didn’t come to pass as the Revs’ only addition came in the form of Designated Player Gustavo Bou.
