The New England Revolution are set to sign midfielder Carles Gil, according to multiple Spanish reports.

Gil, 26, has been a rumored Revs’ target for several weeks. Whispers became louder when he was consistently left off of Deportivo La Coruna’s game-day roster.

Yesterday, several Spanish media outlets reported that Gil’s move to the Revolution was a done deal, going as far as to say that he signed a two-year contract that includes two option years. The transfer fee is said to be between 1.5-2 million Euros.

Despite the Spanish media anticipating that an official announcement would come yesterday, we are still waiting for a press release.

Gil began his career at Valencia, though he was loaned to Elche between 2012-2014. In 2015 he moved to Aston Villa and made 28 appearances for the Villans before heading to Deportivo La Coruna.

If Gil does join the Revolution, he would likely slot in as a No. 10 or outside midfielder. The 5’7 attacker is a creative dribbler and has a quick burst of speed that will help him beat opponents.
