Claude Dielna is looking to move to Real Betis of Spain’s La Liga after this season, according to Foot Mercato.

Dielna, 30, was signed by New England Revolution on Jun. 27, 2017 with the hope that he’d stabilize a struggling backline. Even after a coaching change occurred, Dielna remained part of the starting lineup and even donned the captain’s armband.

A few sub-par performances saw the defender fall out of favor. In fact, Dielna hasn’t made an appearance since the Revs’ 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Jul. 21.

The report indicates that Dielna would move back to Europe on a free transfer after this MLS contract expires on Dec. 31. If true, the Revs would open up some cap space and a Designated Player slot ahead of the 2019 season.

Dielna has spent most of his career in Europe, most recently with Dinamo Bucuresti (Romania), Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), and Sheffield Wednesday (England).
