The New England Revolution is expected to add midfielder Luis Alberto Caicedo, according to a report from Colombia.
Caicedo, 21, has been with Cortuluá of Colombia since 2015. He has played 67 matches for the club, amassing three goals, 25 yellow cards, and one red card, according to Flashscore.com. He’s featured largely as a defensive midfielder, though he can line up along the backline.
Revolution president Brian Bilello declined to comment on the rumor when asked on Twitter, though he did say that the club should be announcing a new signing in the coming days.
Won’t confirm or deny a specific rumor but we should have a new signing to announce this week, hopefully tomorrow https://t.co/L4oXjOxJ6M

With little information out there about Caicedo, it’s hard to know what to make of this potential acquisition. That said, he does fit a position of need. Wilfred Zahibo and Scott Caldwell are the presumed starters in the middle of the park while expected backup Zachary Herivaux is currently injured. Caicedo should provide some competition and does fit the bill of being a young player with promise.
