The New England Revolution have added a few new faces to their squad and it looks like they aren’t done yet.
On Tuesday, the Revolution tied FC Cincinnati 1-1 to end the Florida leg of preseason. The team will now return to Foxboro before heading to Tucson, AZ to participate in the Mobile Mini Sun Cup. More than an opportunity to get better, this second preseason trip will mark the arrival of some new players, some known, some not.
“Toni [Antonio] Delamea will be back, for one. Wilfried Zahibo will be back for another,” head coach Brad Friedel noted. “Maybe one or two other faces will be in,”
Delamea is a known commodity that will likely start at center back alongside Claude Dielna. Delamea will rejoin the team after tending to personal matters in Slovenia.
Zahibo is a central midfielder who was waiting for paperwork before joining camp. The club is hopeful he will be here soon.
The most interesting part of the quote is the final section in which Friedel said that there could be some new players coming soon. This could mean trialists, which is similar to what we saw with Jalil Anibaba, or it could mean new signings. Friedel did say he hoped “to make 2-3 more big additions.”
