The New England Revolution announced Monday morning that they had re-signed 26-year-old forward Juan Agudelo to a multi-year contract.
Throughout his time with the Revolution, Agudelo has racked up 32 goals and 14 assists over 128 appearances since 2013. Agudelo ended the 2018 season with three goals and four helpers.
Agudelo has certainly left his mark on the Revs, as he’s currently ranked third in all-time goals per 90 (0.39), fifth in scoring percentage (15.6), and seventh in goals per game (0.25). Agudelo was also able to claim the Revolution’s Golden Boot award in 2016.
When asked, Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said, “Juan has been an integral member of our team over the last five years and ensuring that he remained here in New England was a priority for us this off season. We believe his best years as a player are still ahead of him, and we look forward to seeing Juan in a Revolution jersey in 2019 and beyond.”
Agudelo himself said, “I’m happy to have re-signed with the Revolution after 5 great seasons and I’m grateful to remain on the team. I look forward to helping the Revolution and building off of last season. I’m excited to see my teammates next month and prepare for the 2019 season”.
It looks as though Agudelo will be a pivotal piece for the Revolution for next season and for seasons to come. With Agudelo’s assistance on offense, the Revs hope to make the MLS playoffs not only in 2019, but in the following seasons as well.
