Maccabi Haifa play in the Israeli Premier League, where they’ve won the top prize on 12 occasions. The club has struggled recently, having failed to secure a top-two finish since the 2012-13 season.
Perhaps Maccabi Haifa were looking to change their luck by adding Nguyen, who has shown the ability to dominate a game. In 2014, the midfielder was an MVP candidate, having collected 18 goals and five assists. Although his numbers haven’t risen to the same level since, Nguyen has been a solid contributor to the Revolution. His current stat line for this season reads eight goals and nine assists in 21 appearances.
We don’t know much about the offer but I doubt the Revs gave it much consideration. For one, the 30-year-old Nguyen still has plenty to offer. Furthermore, a move to Israel probably wasn’t something Nguyen was interested in. That said, we could see a different outcome if a more appealing offer comes along.
