After making the bench for Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup match vs. D.C. United, Matt Turner has returned to Richmond to join the Kickers on loan.

The road from Foxboro to Richmond should seem familiar for Turner, who has completed several loan spells with the USL side since he latched on with the Revs as a pre-season trialist last year. Turner has not yet made his regular-season MLS debut, but has made three appearances in the Revolution gameday 18 over the past two seasons.

Turner could return to Foxboro again prior to next Thursday’s Open Cup quarterfinal match between the Revolution and New York Red Bulls. It’s unlikely that he would earn a start, however, with Brad Knighton assuming responsibility as the starter in Open Cup play.

With the Kickers this season, Turner has made 13 starts, recording two shutouts and 36 saves.
