New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner has been loaned to the Richmond Kickers (USL), according to RVA is RED.
Turner, 21, signed with the Revolution on March 3rd after a successful preseason trial. The rookie spent four years at Fairfield University, serving as the starter for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. During this time, the team went 13-9-12 with Turner collecting 21 clean sheets and a 0.85 GAA. Turner has yet to make an appearance for the Revolution.
The Richmond Kickers are currently 2-2-1 on the season with a goal differential of +6. The team most recently suffered a 3-2 loss to the Charlotte Independence.
Turner will provide support at the goalkeeping position, especially in light of normal starter Ryan Taylor suffering an injury against the Independence. The Kickers' other rostered goalkeeper is 18-year-old Richmond United Academy player Sawyer Gaffney. Gaffney's inexperience shined through last weekend when he allowed two goals in the final two minutes.
The Kickers will host Toronto FC II on Saturday, April 30. Kickoff is set for 7 pm est.
