Tracking Will Packwood has become the contemporary version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
The 22-year-old defender began trialing with the New England Revolution in early May after terminating his contract with Birmingham City early. After failing to secure a spot on the roster, Packwood moved on to the New York Red Bulls. Here, he earned praise from head coach Jesse Marsch, but not a contract. Soon after, Packwood was spotted at Revs practice, though he was reportedly heading elsewhere.
That elsewhere was apparently with the Chicago Fire, according to Comcast SportsNet Chicago's Danny Michallik.
So that curly-haired, unidentified young buck training with the Fire the last week or so has a name: U.S. youth int'l Will Packwood. #cf97

It seems as though Packwood might soon be on the move again as head coach Frank Yallop stated that the Massachusetts native is "just training."
Yallop informed me Packwood "just training" with the Fire. He is -- as some have rightly pointed out -- not on the allocation list. #cf97

Packwood's struggles to find a team are certainly interesting as he's a young and capable prospect. Linking up with his hometown Revolution seems to be a perfect fit, though nothing has come to pass.
