Guatemalan attacker's future with Revolution shrouded in mystery

Marvin Ceballos' name appears on the latest MLS salary list, but an official announcement hasn't been made yet.

Intrigue concerning New England Revolution target Marvin Ceballos has hit a peak.

Earlier this month, The Bent Musket reported that Ceballos, a Guatemalan midfielder who most recently played in his homeland with Comunicaciones, had signed with the Revolution. That report was later backed by Frank Dell'Apa of The Boston Globe. The most recent confirmation comes from the MLS salary list, which includes Ceballos' name.

The report, released by the MLS Players Union on Friday, states that Ceballos will earn $50,004. This number puts him on par with Timothy Mulgrew and four cents higher than Sean Okoli, Tyler Rudy, and Trevor Spangenberg.

The lack of an official announcement is certainly curious as Ceballos was believed to have signed approximately two weeks ago. When asked for a comment, a Revs spokesperson stated that Ceballos is not signed or on the roster.

Stay tuned to The Bent Musket as we continue to track this story.
