Charlie Davies went all in to score the New England Revolution's opening goal against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, and for that he's been nominated for Goal of the Week.
The New Hampshire native struck in the ninth minute with a diving header that put the ball past goalkeeper Luis Robles. The tally was assisted by London Woodberry, who provided an appetizing cross from the right flank. The goal was Davies' third in as many games and it helped Woodberry make his first appearance on a MLS score sheet.
This is not the first time this season that a Revolution player has been up for this weekly accolade. Juan Agudelo's stylish touch was nominated in week five as was Chris Tierney's right-footed rarity in week eight. No Revs player has won the award, however, as Agudelo lost out to Javier Morales while Tierney was ousted by Benny Feilhaber.
