Revolution to Host Fourth Round US Open Cup Game

The New England Revolution will host either the Charlotte Independence or Carolina RailHawks in the Fourth Round of the US Open Cup.

The New England Revolution will either host the Charlotte Independence of the USL or Carolina RailHawks of the NASL in Fourth Round of the US Open Cup. The Revolution's game is scheduled to take place on Jun. 17 at Soldiers Field in Boston.

The Fourth Round is when MLS teams enter the field with games happening on Jun. 16-17. Third Round games, which include the introduction of NASL clubs, will take place on May 27. On that date, the Revs will learn their opponent.

Regardless of if it's the Independence or RailHawks, there will be a homecoming of sorts as both clubs employ former Revolution players. Bilal Duckett, Paolo DelPiccolo are currently with the Independence while Wells Thompson is playing with the RailHawks.

The Revolution lifted the US Open Cup in 2007. The trophy has been elusive since then as the team was ousted by the Philadelphia Union in 2014, DC United in 2013, and the Harrisburg City Islanders in 2012. There's cause for optimism, however, as the Revs presently have one of their deepest rosters in recent history.
