Justice has been served as Real Salt Lake midfielder John Stertzer has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for a harsh tackle committed on the New England Revolution's Juan Agudelo last weekend.
The infraction in question came in the 10th minute of Saturday's game. Stertzer came in late and high, knocking Agudelo to the turf. The US international immediately clutched his ankle and signaled for help. He would later return to the pitch after receiving medical attention. Stertzer received a yellow card on the play.
MLSSoccer.com's resident referee expert Simon Borg addressed the foul on Instant Reply by saying, it was a "rough tackle that I thought should have received a red card." He also noted that the play had the potential to break an ankle.
