New England Revolution Designated Player Jermaine Jones will be swapping his soccer cleats for a baseball mitt on Tuesday evening when he throws the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park. Jones will take the mound before the Boston Red Sox face the Toronto Blue Jays, which starts at 6:10 p.m.
Jones only recently returned to the Revolution after undergoing sports hernia surgery during the off season. The midfielder has already had a positive effect, however, as the Revs are 2-0-1 this season with Jones in the lineup. Last year, Jones helped the Revs to their first MLS Cup appearance since 2007.
Jones is no stranger to the mound as he threw a ceremonial first pitch before a Los Angeles Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium in July 2014. This pitch took place shortly after he returned from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and it was just a little outside. Jones would later grab a soccer ball to challenge catcher A.J. Ellis in a sport that's a bit more familiar for him.
