Honduras has some work to do if they want to qualify for this summer's Gold Cup as they lost 3-1 to French Guiana on Wednesday in the first leg of a two-leg playoff.

Jerry Bengtson, who is currently on loan to Belgrano of Argentina from the New England Revolution, scored the sole tally for Los Catrachos in the 17th minute. The lanky striker made a sneaky run to get behind the defense before rounding the on-rushing goalkeeper.

It was all down hill from there for Honduras.

French Guiana, who hosted the match, would go on to score three unanswered goals. The first came in the 25th minute and Bengtson actually had the last touch, though the ball was destined for goal. Two minutes later, Sloan Privat gave French Guiana the lead. The game would be put out of reach when Privat scored his second of the night in the 61st minute.

The return leg will be played in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Sunday, Mar. 29.
