Sean and Ryan Gasbarro, twin seven-year-old sons of New England Revolution season ticket-holder Chris Gasbarro, thought they were dropping their dad off at the airport so he could travel to L.A. for the MLS Cup final alone.
Instead, their father made their year by surprising them with two tickets to join him at the StubHub Center.
MLSsoccer.com highlighted the joyous occasion on The Sideline, along with the above video documenting the experience for the family.
Gasbarro told Andy Edwards the following via email about his plan to surprise his kids:
"Sensing the Revs were going to make a run, I actually booked hotel rooms in Seattle and LA and booked the airline tickets once LA was known. My wife and I thought it would be fun to surprise them, so the cover story was that dad was going out for the finals by himself.
"So we didn't tell them until we got to the airport to drop me off, and hopped the last flight out Saturday night to LA. We took the red-eye back on Sunday night and they had to go right to school after arriving at 5 am to Boston."
Going to school on Monday probably wasn't any fun, but it was surely a small price to pay for such a grand and unique experience for the two boys. Revolution fans are the best.
