Adriana Leon and Rhian Wilkinson Called Up to Canadian National Team

Adriana Leon, Rhian Wilkinson to join Canada for June 19 friendly against Germany.

USA TODAY Sports

In preparation for a June 19 friendly against the German Women's National Team, the Canadian WNT has named Breakers forward Adriana Leon and defender Rhian Wilkinson to the roster. Leon has recorded one goal in five appearances with the Breakers, while Wilkinson has logged 288 minutes in four appearances. The pair will attempt to defeat a German squad ranked second in the world, just 17 days after falling 3-0 to the top-ranked U.S. side.

The Canadian roster will also feature Louisville defender Rachel Melhado and Seattle University forward Mélissa Busque, two first-time senior call-ups. The pair of youngsters will join standout Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair, who has collected four goals in nine NWSL appearances.

Although Canada's last result against the Germans dates back to 1994 - a span of 10 matches - the team remains confident in its ability to challenge top-level competition. The match will kickoff at 12 p.m. ET in Paderborn, Germany.
