2021 has been a year to remember for Tajon Buchanan.
The Canadien has a career-high seven goals and five assists in 21 games played this season. He continues to blow by defenders and create plenty of chances for the Revolution.
But in recent games, there has been something noticeable about the 22-year-old. As Paul Mariner used to say, he is enjoying his football.
Buchanan has been breaking out some moves that we might have only seen in FIFA video games. Particularly the spin move he recently pulled out was superb and jaw-dropping to fans who got to witness it.
Revs fans should cherish the time left that they have with Buchanan. He was sold to Club Brugge and will be headed there once the 2021 MLS season concludes. The Canadien said that with the future of his career set in stone, it might have translated to his play on the field.
“I guess you could say that a little,” Buchanan said when asked if he has gained confidence since the move. “I’m kind of just playing my game right now, trying to finish the season strong because it is my last season here. Just trying to do what I can every game to be a difference maker and help this team win games. We have a long stretch coming up and hopefully we can keep winning games and I can keep helping the team.”
The confidence directly impacted New England in their last game as Buchanan continued to take on defenders and dominate play. He single-handedly took on an Orlando defender and created something out of nothing.
“Just wanted to take it with confidence, and the coaches are telling me to go out and one-v-one and just play my game,” he said. “When the opportunity came upon me, I just wanted to be aggressive. Yeah, it’s one of my strengths when a guy’s one-v-one and I was able to put it in a dangerous spot. Yeah, credit to Adam [Buska]. He had a lot of guys frozen in the in the six-yard box and we’re happy went in.”
With the way that Buchanan is playing, the Revolution will be tough to stop. They will look to continue to build momentum when they face CF Montreal on the road Wednesday evening.
