The crayon flag might have received the final nail in its coffin

New England Revolution fans were already upset with the latest installment in the FIFA video game series before Monday.

Carles Gil seems to be rather underrated at 77 overall, but the official announcement from the league managed to anger fans more. In a since deleted tweet, MLS used the rumored new logo for the club making it seem like the crayon flag era is coming to an end.

Now there is a lot to take in here. First off Carlos Vela is Mexican, not Spanish so the logo isn’t the only thing that stands out.

But this tweet was sent out by the official MLS account. Why would they have a Gil card with the rebranded logo if it wasn’t happening?

Now the only question seems to be is when will the rebrand come? Will it be rolled out along with FIFA 22? Could it be announced before a playoff run? Will Revolution fans have to wait in agony until next year?

The writing just seems to be on the wall. Fans are struggling to find a jersey at the stadium and online. Why order a large number of jersey’s when you are just going to go through a rebrand?

Oh and as I was typing this Taylor Twellman posted the new logo making it seem as though there is no doubt about it that this new logo is coming. I will now ponder what life will be like without the crayon flag.

The Revolution could not be reached for comment. If one is received this story will be updated.
