Carles Gil makes 6th 2021 MLS Team of the Week after coming off the bench

It only took 45 minutes for the midfielder to show he had one of the best performances of the week.

Carles Gil is still recovering from an injury but he is putting out performances that other players wish they could have when 100 percent healthy.

Gil only played 45 minutes against NYCFC but he made one hell of an impact. The 28-year-old had the most created chances in the match (6) while securing his 16th assist of the season.

From the moment he stepped on the field, the Spaniard showed why he is the leading MVP candidate. He quickly nutmegged a NYCFC player and showed just how skillful he is.

This is the sixth time that Gil has been honored with making the squad. At this point it seems likely that he reaches double-digit nods in 2021.

Gil wasn’t the only player to make the roster as Tajon Buchanan was named to the bench after scoring his seventh goal of the season. In the Canadian’s last four appearances for New England he has four goals and an assist.

Revolution fans will be hoping that these two continue to play well when New England faces the Columbus Crew on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
