After a successful month of July for La Pantera, Revolution forward Gustavo Bou was named Major League Soccer’s Player of the Month.

Throughout the Revolution’s six matches in July, Gustavo Bou racked up an impressive five goals and one assist while helping the Revs to a 4-1-1 record in the month.

With Bou receiving the July Player of the Month award and captain Carles Gil winning the honor in the previous month, Bou and Gil become the first duo in New England Revolution history to win the Major League Soccer Player of the Month award in consecutive months.

Bou and Gil’s achievement is the first time a pair of Revolution teammates have won the award in the same season since club legends Clint Dempsy and Taylor Twellman won the award during the 2005 season.

With Bou winning the award, he becomes the seventh individual to win the award and earns the Revs their eighth Player of the Month award.

The month of July saw La Pantera become the Revs leading scorer with ten goals while improving to three assists on the year. Gustavo’s ten goals put him in a three-way tie for second in the Golden Boot race with Galaxy forward Chicharito and Kansas City forward Dániel Sallói. The trio trail first placed Raúl Ruidíaz by one goal.

With six games on the schedule in August, it will be interesting to see if another Revolution player can pull off the trifecta.

The Revs return to action on Sunday, August 8th, as they host the Philadelphia Union at 6:00 PM EST.
