Could Tajon Buchanan be on the move soon?

Reports indicate a move for Buchanan are imminent

Hours after playing 81 minutes in the Revs scoreless draw against Nashville SC, news broke that Tajon Buchanan was “nearing a transfer to Europe”.

In an article from Kristian Dyer of MLS Multiplex, the 22-year-old Canadian “could be on the move soon” before the MLS transfer window closes on Thursday.

This report comes after months of speculation on the Canadian midfielder’s future. Earlier this month, reports indicated that the Revs had turned down offers from Ligue One-side RC Lens. Several Bundesliga and Belgian clubs have inquired about Buchanan as well.

According to Dyer’s source, Belgian-side Club Brugge and German-side SC Freiburg are the favorites to land Buchanan. Dyer’s source also confirms the Revolution are working with the club Buchanan will join to loan him back to the Revolution for the remainder of the Major League Soccer season.

When talking with the media earlier this week on interest from European suitors, Buchanan said that playing overseas was a huge goal of his but added that playing with the Revolution was his focus for the time being.

With the transfer window closing within the next two days, it seems the news of Buchanan’s departure from New England is imminent. Thankfully, it appears Buchanan will be sticking around in New England a little longer as the Revs look to continue their run towards the 2021 MLS Cup.
