New England will receive ~$7 million with a 10% sell-on clause for the 22-year-old Canadian, who will finish the MLS season w/ Revs before moving to Belgium.
Buchanan has been having an amazing season for the Revs this season. The 22-year-old has tallied six goals and four assists in 17 appearances. He has been a menace to opponents and a humongous asset to New England.
Buchanan’s Head coach, Bruce Arena was happy for his player.
“Tajon has grown tremendously during his time in New England and has earned this opportunity to prove himself at the highest levels in Europe with this Champions League club,” said Arena. “We are pleased to facilitate this move for Tajon as he takes the next step in his professional journey. We look forward to his continued contributions with the Revolution as we compete for a championship this season.”
This move is a significant one for the Revolution. Besides the fact that New England gets a significant amount of coin, they also showed players that they can accomplish their European dreams when joining the club.
New England also ensured that they will receive a proper fee while Buchanan stays with the Revs for the rest of the season which is important when it comes to their championship aspirations.
Club Brugge is bound to have a lot more fans in the New England area once Buchanan makes the trip overseas.
