After a characteristic comeback in a 3-2 victory over the New York Red Bulls, two New England Revolution players were honored for their on-field performances by being named to this week’s MLS Team of the week.

Captain Carles Gil would continue to make history as he increased his assist numbers to fifteen this season after assisting on Brandon Bye’s header in the 84th minute and Adam Buksa’s game-winner in stoppage time.

Gil’s inclusion on Week 16’s Team of the Week makes it his eighth appearance on the list in 2021. As Gil looks to set an MLS record throughout the remainder of the season, we will likely see this familiar face pop up in more Team of the Week throughout the year.

Buksa would cap off a display of grit and determination from this Revolution squad by netting the go-ahead goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. After being denied by the woodwork multiple times earlier on in the match, Buksa came up clutch when the Revs needed it most.

For his efforts in the Revs comeback, Buksa was named to the Team of the Week bench. His inclusion in Week 16’s Team of the Week makes it his second appearance on the team in 2021.
