It seems as though Tajon Buchanan’s days in New England are numbered.
The latest news comes from Manuel Veth of Transfermarkt who is reporting that Buchanan is in advanced talks with Augsburg. Veth also mentions that Freiburg and Club Brugge are still involved in the race for the winger. Prior to this, TSN’s Matthew Scianitti reported that Buchanan is expected to make his decision before the game against Toronto FC.
New England has a few players on the roster who have played soccer over in Europe. Adam Buksa is one of them playing in his native Poland. The striker was asked if Buchanan talked to him about the game overseas and while that conversation hasn’t happened, Buksa believes that Buchanan is ready to make the jump.
Buksa said, “Tajon hasn’t spoken to me about it. He’s a great guy. He’s focused on playing for the New England Revolution. He’s doing his best, as you can see he’s been doing fantastic the last couple of weeks. My personal opinion, he’s definitely ready for the transfer to Europe because he’s everything that’s needed to be a great player in Europe, to make that step forward. But it’s his decision, his career so he needs to be comfortable with that. I’m definitely not the guy who will suggest him anything. He needs to feel comfortable with any decision that’s taken, but I don’t have any doubts. I’m pretty sure that he will do well wherever he goes if he wants to go.”
At this point it seems as though a move for Buchanan is more likely to happen compared to him staying put in New England. While a transfer could involve a loan back, The winger and the club seem to want to strike while the iron is hot.
Revolution fans will be paying attention as Saturday nears. Soon enough they will know if Buchanan is staying for the season or if he’s headed overseas.
