The United States Men’s National Team booked their trip the Gold Cup final on Thursday night and there is really one guy to thank.

Matt Turner had arguably the best game of his USMNT career. He quite literally saved the day as the stars and stripes failed to get anything going on the attack for a while.

Turner had multiple key saves in the first half. It was a perfect display of his reflexes and showcased why he is the best shot-stopper in the United States. The New England Revolution goalkeeper finished the night with three saves including a great stop on a possible own goal courtesy of James Sands.

There was also a key point in the second half as Qatar earned a penalty kick once again testing Turner’s skill at stopping shots from the spot. Hasaan Al Haidos once again tried a panenka but Turner held his ground as long as possible and Al Haidos sent the ball over the bar.

With the United States one win away from Gold Cup glory, Turner’s stock is rising at an epic rate. European teams are seeing that he is capable of competing with some of the best players in the globe. If he leads the USMNT to a trophy, the Revolution could start receiving a lot of calls about the goalkeeper.

Turner bailed out the United States on Thursday night and soccer fans around the country got to see what Revs fans already knew, that the New England goalkeeper is the best shot-stopper that the country has.
