New England Revolution players and coaches tuned into Sunday’s game to see Matt Turner and the United States face Tajon Buchanan and Canada. The reviews were positive for both players.
Revolution head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena told media that it was the first time he watched the U.S. play during the Gold Cup. The former USMNT coach thought the U.S. “outplayed Canada for about 20 seconds, and then Canada played well.”
Arena thought the two Revs representatives stood out.
“I thought Matt did a very good job,” Arena said. “He had about two or three saves that were challenging and he stood up Tajon on that one chance in the second half. Tajon was active, played a few different positions on the field, and overall did a solid job. I think both players did well.”NER
Brandon Bye also watched the game, stating that it was “good to see them” play international soccer. Like Arena, Bye was proud of how Turner and Buchanan performed.
“Tajon obviously showed well,” Bye remarked. “He didn’t get a goal or an assist, or something like that, but you can tell he is definitely a flare player out there and showing well for Canada, and then obviously Turner keeping the clean sheet.”
