New England Revolution fans won’t be surprised by this statement but Carles Gil has been playing some great soccer.

It appears that MLS has noticed as well as Gil was named the Player of the Month for June. While it might not be the last time he wins the award, it’s a testament to just how well he has played.

In just three games in June, Gil was able to tally five assists. He had back-to-back games with multiple assists and simply looked unstoppable.

With 10 assists to his name in 11 games this season. Gil is well on his way to besting the single-season assist record that is currently held by Carlos Valderrama.

The Spaniard is the seventh Revolution player to be honored as Player of the Month with Lee Nguyen being the most recent in 2014.

With New England preparing to be without Matt Turner and Tajon Buchanan due to the Gold Cup, the Revolution will rely on Gil even more. If he answers the bell, more hardware could be coming in the future.

MLSsoccer.com ranked the MVP candidates so far this season and Gil came out on top. It’s an impressive feat seeing that a player such as Chicharito already has 10 goals, but it shows just how impressive the midfielder has been.

If the voters are looking for the most valuable player to a club, it’s hard to argue against Gil. Without him the New England Revolution would not be as successful as they have been in 2021.

Getting to watch Carles Gil play is like getting to watch someone like Claude Monet paint right in front of you. On the field in June, Gil created a masterpiece and had fans expecting fireworks with every single touch.
