Carles Gil had a fantastic performance for the New England Revolution in the club’s 2-1 win over Atlanta United and he’s being properly rewarded. MLS’s Team of the Week for Week 3 was released on Monday and Gil was named as a starter.
Gil had a magical performance. His skill was on full display as he made defenders look silly throughout the game. It’s Gil’s world, everyone else is just living in it.
The midfielder had a goal and an assist on the night and was by far the best player on the pitch. Gil’s cross to Brandon Bye for the first goal was a work of art and there seemed to be no doubt when he stepped up for the penalty kick in the 53rd minute.
The 28-year-old also created six chances for the Revolution and received a 9.0 rating from FotMob.
Gil wasn’t the only player to make the squad. Andrew Farrell was named to the bench of the Week 3 Team of the Week.
All in all, it was a successful week for Carles Gil. He had a spectacular performance against Atlanta United and is getting the national attention he deserves. As long as he stays healthy, there’s a real chance that Gil brings home some hardware at the end of the 2021 season.
