As the Icelandic national team prepares for upcoming international friendlies, Head Coach Arnar Viðarsson announced the members of Iceland’s roster for said international friendlies. An announcement that made Revolution fans excited as midfielder Arnór Traustason was named to the squad.
This is not Traustason’s first time with the Icelandic international team. Revs fans will remember that Traustason spent time with the national team right before his arrival to New England.
Traustason was a part of Iceland’s roster for the World Cup Qualifiers in late March and early April where he appeared in all three of Iceland’s World Cup Qualifiers against Germany, Armenia, and Liechtenstein. Over his 165 minutes played, Traustason was able to assist on one of Iceland’s four goals against Liechtenstein.
Iceland will play against Mexico on May 9th at 8:30 PM EST, the Faroe Islands on June 4th at 2:45 PM EST, and Poland on June 8th at noon EST. Traustason will not be joining the team until after their first matchup against Mexico but will be available to play in the June 4th and June 8th matchups.
Throughout his international career with Iceland, Traustason has appeared in 40 matches where he has bagged a total of five goals.
