The day that New England Revolution fans had been waiting for finally arrived on Tuesday. At 12 PM the club released their new away kit and fans didn’t shy away from voicing their opinion.
As was reported by The Bent Musket, the jersey was in fact white. Leaks prior to the release also indicated that a baby or sky blue might appear on the kit and that also ended up being true.
But let’s take a look at what the Revs will be rocking on the road in 2021.

In the official announcement from the club, the inspiration behind the jersey is revealed.
“Inspired by the block work of American Revolution Era war forts in the New England area, the Revolution’s Community Kit pays homage to The Fort – the club’s dedicated supporters’ sections at Gillette Stadium – and features a fort-inspired blocked white shirt with a monochromatic Revolution logo, white shorts, and sky blue socks.”
The sky blue surprised a few fans but the club also described why they ended up using that color.
“Split branding on the sleeves and shorts, featuring a dark navy trim on one side and sky blue trim on the other, is unique to the Revolution, as is the blocked design on the shirt. The colors of the split represent the colors of the water and the sky that surround the war-era forts throughout New England.”
So how did Revolution fans react to the release? We will let them speak for themselves.

Big nope. I’ll buy a white t shirt and a few sharpies and save 100 bucks for the same thing

If I had 10 thumbs they would all be down. #NERevs

Are we sure this kit wasn’t meant for Minnesota United and it somehow got mixed up with the real #NERevs kit? pic.twitter.com/SktvoZqZaJ

So it’s safe to say that Revs fans aren’t the biggest fans of the new kit. The bad news for them? New England will be donning it for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Maybe the kit will grow on fans, but for now it appears that whenever New England rocks these uni’s, Revolution fans won’t be happy.
