Christian Mafla was one of the many splashes that the New England Revolution made in the offseason. Being apart of these moves means that you have to perform right away.
Mafla comes with experience that should ensure he hits the ground running. At the age of 28, he has already played a decade down in South America.
While some other players were able to arrive earlier, Mafla along with Adam Buksa joined the team in training this week and the media got to speak with the Colombian on Thursday.
After the 2020 season, Revolution fans have high expectations. This has been echoed by players in earlier media availabilities.
After making the Eastern Conference Finals, the only way to improve is to make the MLS Cup or dare I say... lift a trophy.
Like others, Mafla has high expectations for himself. He hopes to help New England win a trophy in 2021.
He said, “I want to help this team the best I can. I want to have a great season, and God willing, win a championship at the end of the season.”
Soon enough fans will get to see what Mafla can do on the field. The regular season is indeed only a month away.
If he lives up to the hype, the Columbian could help New England make a long run in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2021 or maybe even more.
