It seemed as though Michael Mancienne’s time with the New England Revolution had come to an end after the club announced that his contract option would be declined in December. Now that is official with Mancienne heading to Burton Albion over in England for the rest of the 2020/21 season.
The club said that they “have been looking for a center back throughout the English transfer window.”
During his time in New England, Mancienne made 33 appearances. In over 2,400 minutes played, he registered a goal, but as a defender that wasn’t the focus of his play.
Mancienne was brought in as a leader. He has Premier League and Bundesliga experience that made him an asset to MLS clubs.
With Mancienne being born in Feltham, England, he will once again have the opportunity to play in his home country. Speaking to iFollow Brewers, Mancienne expressed his excitement to play for the Brewers.
He said, “it’s obviously a pleasure to be here and I’m really grateful that the manager has given me the opportunity to join and help with the battle.”
