Sunday was all about Matt Turner. The New England Revolution goalkeeper got the first international start of his career for the United States Men’s National Team and he didn't disappoint.
While Turner wasn’t busy in the first half, he did get to show how he works with the ball at his feet. That was something that Gregg Berhalter mentioned prior to the game as a part of Turner’s game that he needed to work on.
Turner got his big moment in the second half. He had to stop a penalty kick and when the USMNT needed him he came up clutch.
It was one of the big saves that fans in New England are used to seeing. In the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, Turner denied Nani in another crucial penalty kick save.
It was a big night for the Revs and their fans. Everyone was proud to see Turner get his first start. This includes Turner’s teammates who had plenty to say on Twitter.
Yes Turner!!!!!!

So as you can see Revs players past and present were excited to see Turner shine on the international stage. Hopefully this is just the start for Turner and the USMNT.
