New England Revolution: Diego Fagundez headed to Austin FC

Diego Fagundez announced that he will be playing for Austin FC in 2021.

SOCCER: OCT 07 MLS - Toronto FC at New England Revolution

Diego Fagundez will always be revered in New England, but his time with the Revolution has come to an end. Fagundez has announced that he will be playing for Austin FC in 2021.

Fagundez had plenty of firsts in New England. He was the club’s first Homegrown player and went on to become the first Homegrown player in MLS to reach 10,000 minutes played. Also, the midfielder became the youngest player in MLS to tally 100 appearances and 25 goals.

Seeing Fagundez leave is like sending your child off to college. Since joining the club as a teen, Revolution fans have been able to watch Fagundez grow and mature. Now he is 25 and leaving the club he has called home for so many years.

There is no doubt that Revs fans will miss seeing Fagundez rock a Revolution kit, but there will also be some sort of pride watching him play for a different team. He will always be our guy.

Hopefully, the fine folks in Austin realize that they are getting quite the player and may Revolution fans remember all the great moments that Fagundez had with the club.
