Things haven’t been great for the New England Revolution. They are coming off their worst loss of the season and one thing is clear, they miss Carles Gil. It looks like there’s a chance that he could make a return.
Gil participated in two games in the MLS is Back Tournament but then was forced to miss some time. Later it was revealed that the Revolution star was forced to have surgery on his left Achilles tendon.
The initial prognosis didn’t sound good and it seemed like the Revs would lose Gil for the season. The anticipated recovery time was three to five months.
So far New England has seen what life looks like without Gil. Frankly it’s a nightmare scenario.
The Revolution are struggling to attack and create quality chances in the final third. Gil is the heartbeat of the team and without him New England is lifeless.
Just look at New England’s last game against NYCFC. The Revolution had 15 shots but only three on target.
After such a disappointing loss, Revs fans deserved some good news. They got it when Gil shared an update on Instagram.

For someone who is just removed from Achilles surgery, Gil looks rather healthy. Especially since it has only been one month since he went under the knife.
Also if you pay attention to the caption it roughly translates to “one month from step by step operation.” Now it seems like there’s a chance that we see Gil return in 2020.
This would be a big boost and insert some much needed life and skill into New England’s midfield.
So be patient Revs fans. Carles Gil might return sooner than you think.
