Bou and Buksa score late in DC.

New England Revolution v Chicago Fire

The New England Revolution relied on late goals from their Designated Players to secure a 2-0 win over D.C. United on Sunday night.

In the 10th minute, Yordy Reyna found Griffin Yow. The 18-year-old offered a well-taken shot but Matt Turner was up to the task.

Reyna had a chance of his own in the 22nd minute after he accepted a pass from Joseph Mora. Turner was once again present to keep the game at zeroes.

DeJuan Jones played a low cross in the 36th minute. Lee Nguyen got on the end of it, but his shot was directly at Bill Hamid.

The Revs were forced to make a change just before halftime after Matt Polster suffered an unfortunate injury. While attempting a slide tackle, the defensive midfielder was kicked in the head by Reyna’s trailing foot. Tommy McNamara entered for Polster.

In the 57th minute, a deflection almost put Ola Kamara in on goal but Andrew Farrell made a crucial tackle.

Teal Bunbury was on that attack in the 63rd minute, dancing through D.C.’s defense. Although a lot of the hard work was complete, Bunbury was unable to put his shot on frame.

The Revs got the game-winning goal in the 86th minute after McNamara found Penilla on the right. The midfielder played a square ball that Gustavo Bou put in the back of the net.

Adam Buksa sealed the win in the 90th minute by chipping Hamid. The striker’s third goal of the season was assisted by Penilla.
