Revolution might return soon (and so could fans)

It looks like the New England Revolution will return to play sooner rather than later.

The MLS is Back Tournament can be described as a success. It filled our soccer craving and it was awesome getting to cheer on the New England Revolution.

And it seems like more soccer is on the way.

According to the Washington Post, MLS could be announcing a schedule rather soon. Commissioner Don Garber said, “We will get back to our markets. We’ll be announcing our schedule soon. We are going to be able to play with fans where we can and not play with fans in most of our markets.”

Now this makes sense seeing that MLS was able to conduct the MLS is Back tournament rather well. Of course there was the fact that Nashville SC and FC Dallas were forced to withdraw from the tourney, but once everything got underway there were no hiccups. This gives me confidence that the league will have the proper safety protocols in place to play games in home markets.

There are, of course, issues to overcome. The fact that some stadiums will have fans and others will not seems to present an advantage to certain clubs. There should be a uniform policy for the league. If one club can’t have fans, no one should have fans.

The Post also revealed when the Revolution are expected to return to the pitch. It looks like New England will head down to Texas on August 25th to go up against FC Dallas.

With the club continuing to practice in Foxboro they must know something. If the league was going to shut down again why waste all the time and effort? Hopefully MLS will have an official announcement very soon.

Garber also mentioned that the league is looking to conclude the season by the end of the year, which would make things a lot easier when looking ahead to 2021.

So be patient Revolution fans. New England will continue their season (without Carles Gil) rather soon.
