Defender Andrew Farrell inks new deal with the Revs

On June 24, 2020, the New England Revolution partnered with their Unified Team to make the announcement of the re-signing of Andrew Farrell.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the club announced that they had re-signed the veteran Defender to a multi-year deal.

When speaking, Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena praised Farrell for his work on and off the pitch. “Andrew Farrell has been an outstanding player and person for the Revolution over the past seven years. He is a great leader, and has been proved to be a durable and consistent player…We are pleased that Andrew will remain a Revolution player for many years to come.”.

The University of Louisville alum was selected by the Revolution with the first overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Over the past seven years, Farrell has amounted 19,511 minutes over 221 appearances. Throughout his professional playing career, Farrell has amounted a multitude of achievements. These include being named New England Revolution “Defender of the Year” a total of three times. Farrell also earned a selection to the 2016 MLS All Star team.

“I’m thrilled to sign this extension with the Revolution and to continue my career in New England. I’ve always felt like New England was a second home for me, thanks in large to the unwavering support of our fans over the year… I’m more excited than ever to be a part of this club and build something special”.

Not only has Andrew had an impact for the Revolution on the pitch, Farrell has also been a part of the club’s various community service initiatives. Farrell has been a big ambassador for the Special Olympics in Massachusetts and his home-state of Kentucky. Andrew has also been a big part of the Revolution’s Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified soccer team. Farrell is also involved with the clubs childhood cancer initiatives and other community service projects. Andrew Farrell received recognition for his hard work in 2018 as he was named as the Revolution’s “Humanitarian of the Year”.

As the Revolution celebrated their 25th anniversary, Andrew Farrell was named to the Revolution’s All-Time team. Farrell was one of two current Revs players to be named to the team.

As the news of Farrell’s re-signing spreads, players and fans alike will be relieved to know that Andrew Farrell will be a part of the Revolution for years to come.
