New England Revolution head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena predicted that MLS will be back in July during a Zoom Party hosted by BSI: The Podcast.
The chat, which is only available to Patreon subscribers, features several prominent soccer names, including Sacha Kljestan, Dax McCarty, and Mike Magee.
Roughly 45 minutes into the discussion, Arena states that he thinks MLS will be playing games this summer.
“I think the way everything is going in the country—whether you agree with it or not—with all of these states opening up, MLS is definitely going to have competition in July,” Arena said.
Arena’s comment was called “bold” by an individual on the call, though Steven Goff of The Washington Post has reported that a June or July return is possible. For now, MLS players are starting to head to outdoor practice fields for voluntary individual workouts.
Arena’s prediction is one of many reasons why you should watch the BSI Zoom Party. Revs fans will especially like the banter between Benny Feilhaber, Michael Parkhurst, Zach Schilawski, and Matt Reis. Interested parties should visit the BSI Patreon.
