The New England Revolution return to action Wednesday night when they host Toronto F.C. at Gillette Stadium!
Bruce Arena and crew will look to overcome their lackluster performance last Saturday when they played to a 0-0 draw against a weakened Nashville. It was a night where the Revs set themselves up with a multitude of opportunities, but could not find the back of the net!
Toronto F.C. comes into Wednesdays match riding a wave of momentum after knocking off 1st place Columbus 3-1 at “home”.
The Revs will be without midfielders Luis Caicedo and Carles Gil. Regarding the recently injured Alexander Büttner and Matt Polster, Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena provided an update on their status. Arena stated, “They’re making good progress. I think Alex will be available for the game on Wednesday. I don’t think Matt is ready yet”.
One player the Revs will have to keep their eye on is Toronto midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo. Pozuelo, who was named September’s Player of the Month, has been an incredible source of offense for Toronto ever since joining the club in 2019. Over 45 appearances for Toronto F.C., Pozuelo has notched a total of 19 goals and 21 assists!
When talking about the dynamic midfielder, Bruce Arena said, “He’s an excellent player – he’s a good passer, he’s a goal scorer…He has some versatility where he plays. He’s clearly their playmaker, but he’s a guy that can also score goals.”
Wednesday’s match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 PM EST! For television coverage, tune in to NBC Sports Boston. For radio coverage, turn the dial to 98.5 The Sports Hub or Nossa Radio USA.
