Gustavo Bou’s status uncertain heading into next match

Bruce Arena doesn’t know if Gustavo Bou will be able to start the next match after the he only appeared briefly in Wednesday’s game

The starting XI for the New England Revolution looked a lot different on Wednesday night. Fans immediately noticed that Gustavo Bou was not starting but available on the bench.

Bou has been out for a few weeks and missed the last two games due to what has been described as a small injury. After being completely out of the match day roster, it was good to see Bou at least make his way onto the bench.

Revolution fans must have been happy when they saw Bou warming up on the sidelines and preparing to enter the game, but he wouldn’t be there for long. Bou was subbed in at the 70th minute but ended up being taken off at the end of the game with Andrew Farrell taking his place.

After the game Arena spoke about Bou’s performance and the possibility of him starting next game.

“Don’t know that,” Arena stated when asked if he was fit enough to start on Monday. “We’ll know more on Friday when we get back together as a team. He’s been out for a couple of weeks and he looked a little tired. We thought we could get 20 minutes out of him tonight, and that’s what we tried to do. We’ll see what he’s like when he shows up on Friday.”

Bou is a key part of the New England attack. As the playoffs inch closer, the Revolution will need Bou at 100 percent if they want to go on any sort of run.

Hopefully, Bou is fit enough to play 90 minutes on Monday as New England faces a tough opponent in the Philadelphia Union.
