The Revolution II came into Friday’s match looking to extend their winning streak to four games when they took on Fort Lauderdale CF at Gillette Stadium.

Kegan Meyer made his second start in as many games. Meyer has stepped up between the pipe after filling in for an injured Joe Rice.

Tiago Mendonca would return to the backline alongside Ryan Spaulding, Colin Verfurth, and Colby Quinones. Damian Rivera would return to the Starting XI as he joined Maciel and Nicolas Firmino in the midfield. Justin Rennicks joined Orlando Sinclair and Connor Presley up top.

An overall physical game nearly turned into a brawl in the 24th minute. Eduardo Sosa pushed the ball into the box where he was tripped up by Tiago Mendonca and Nicolas Firmino. A frustrated Sosa then attempted to grab the back of Firmino’s neck. Sosa was quickly pushed away by officials and the Revs II backline. Eduardo Sosa would receive a yellow for his actions.

Nicolas Firmino would be booked with a yellow in the 27th minute after being forced to tackle Eduardo Sosa to prevent him from advancing towards Keegan Meyer and the Revolution II goal.

Revs II would earn a free kick yards outside the box in the 41st minute as a handball was called on Fort Lauderdale CF. Nicolas Firmino would be the one to strike the ball and strike it he did! Firmino was able to get the ball past the Fort Lauderdale keeper and into the back of the net, which put the Revs II up 1-0 right before halftime.

Things would take a scary turn in the 45th minute as forward Orlando Sinclair would limp and fall to the ground. A frightening site considering there was no contact. After being tended to by medical staff, Sinclair would slowly limp off the field.

As the second half started, Hikaru Fujiwara would come on to replace the injured Sinclair.

Fort Lauderdale brought the game even in the 52nd minute as Edison Azcona found Felipe Valencia, who broke through the Revs II backline and netted the ball in the back of the net.

Justin Rennicks would regain the lead for Revolution II in the 60th minute after a beautiful display of offense. Damian Rivera would bring the ball up to the 18-yard box and flick it to Firmino. Firmino would then pass it to Connor Presley. Presley would then find Quinones, who crossed it into the box to a leaping Rennicks who caught the ball with his right foot and sent it into the back of the net.

Maciel would be booked with a yellow card in the 64th minute after attempting to intercept the ball from Eduardo Sosa.

Ryan Spaulding would extend the lead to two in the 75th minute as he was able to find the upper right corner of the net!

Clint Peay would make his second and third substitution in the 78th minute as Isaac Angking would replace Damian Rivera, and Mayele Malango would replace Justin Rennicks.

The Revolution II’s final substitution would come in the 86th minute as Meny Silva would replace Connor Presley.

Tiago Mendonca would add on to the Revs II lead in stoppage time as Malango’s pass would find Mendonca inside the 6-yard box and was able to find the open left side of the net and get the ball in!

Friday’s win extends the Revs II winning streak to four games! It was also the second straight match where the Revolution II scored more than four goals!

The Revolution II will look to extend their winning streak to five as they return to action next Friday as they host North Texas S.C. at 7:00 PM.
