Designated Player Gustavo Bou could make his New England Revolution debut on Wednesday, according to sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena.
Bou, who was announced as the newest Revs player on Jul. 10, traveled with the team for their game against D.C. United. According to ESPN commentator Jon Champion, the club was hopeful that Bou’s visa paperwork would be finalized before kickoff. That didn’t happen, but the club is hopeful that their Argentine attacker will be eligible to play in Wednesday’s home game against Vancouver.
“It’s good for [Bou] to be here and we’re hopeful that he’ll be eligible to play on Wednesday,” Arena told media after the Revs’ 2-2 draw.
Although he couldn’t play in the game, it was still beneficial for Bou to make the trip to our nation’s capital. This was a bonding experience for the Spanish speaker, who is already fitting in with his new teammates.
“He’s a great guy,” Andrew Farrell said. “He’s funny. He’s got a lot of personality and it’s so good to have him here. I’ve seen his highlight tape so I know he can score some goals and he has good link-up play, so just being around the guys and getting him incorporated in the team has been awesome.”
