Andrew Farrell won’t play in the New England Revolution’s season opener, according to the latest injury report.

Farrell is listed as “out” ahead of this Saturday’s game against FC Dallas. The right back has been dealing with an eye injury that occurred during training. Brandon Bye is likely to play in Farrell’s absence.

“It’s not serious as long as you take care of it the way that you should,” head coach Brad Friedel told reporters earlier this week. “As long as [Farrell] stays out the allotted time needed then he’ll be back fully fit with no future problems. It was quite serious as it turned out. Hopefully he’ll be back with us very, very soon.”

The other entry on the injury report is Juan Fernando Caicedo, who is listed as questionable with a muscle injury. The forward was a key off-season acquisition, joining the Revs on loan from Independiente Medellín.

Friedel spoke about Caicedo’s injury, saying, “He’s day-to-day. Hopefully, he can be with us this weekend. We’re expecting big things from him this season.”

The Revs open their 2019 campaign on Saturday when they travel to face FC Dallas. Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm.
