The New England Revolution played their first preseason game on Thursday and they debuted their new look to mark the occasion.
The Revs donned their new secondary kits during their tuneup game against Shanghai Shenhua FC (China). The shirt, nicknamed the Colonial, features a central white block that’s surrounded by light blue on both sides. The look serves as the alternative to the Revolution’s dark blue primary jerseys.
Although we’ve seen promotional pictures of the shirt, Revs senior staff writer and editor Jeff Lemieux gave us more to analyze when he posted a picture on Thursday.

Much like when the jersey was first released, I’m concerned that the light blue won’t show well on TV. In fact, it’s hard to tell if the siding is light blue or gray in the picture above. Even then, you have to look closely to differentiate between the white in the middle and color on the sides. Still, I’m willing to wait to see the jerseys in person before I pass final judgement.
