If the Revs have any designs on salvaging their season, they’re going to need to start grabbing points in bunches, especially after dropping two in their 1-1 Saturday draw with Portland. Their first chance is tonight in the Bronx. To earn three points, they’ll need to defeat an NYCFC club which hasn’t lost in Yankee Stadium all year and has outscored opponents 30-7. Yes, that’s not a typo. The Blues have a +23 goal differential at home.

However, NYCFC has only been able to draw the last two visitors, and they haven’t won at home since July. Couple that with a struggling new coach, a plethora of injuries, and several international call-ups, and you have a fighting chance for a result in the Bronx if you’re in good form yourself and can play well on the road. Comment: On paper, Yankee Stadium’s size is a benefit to the Revs, who love to press. In reality, New England is on a bad run of form and there aren’t any signs that they’ll be able to turn things around on Wednesday.

Comment: It’ll take a monumental effort for New England to gain any result right now. I just don’t see it happening tonight, even with the Blues being undermanned. They still have David Villa, Maxi Moralez, Alex Ring and Sean Johnson. That should be enough.

Sean: NYCFC 2 Revs 1

Comment: Eventually the Revs are going to put in a result, but I don’t think it’ll come at Yankee Stadium in the midweek fixture. The Revs attack will find the back of the net once and push for two goals but I predict NYCFC to dominate the majority of the match.
