The Bent Musket Predicts: Revolution at Toronto FC (2nd edition)

The Revs make the return trip to Toronto this weekend as they complete a season home-and-home series with the defending MLS champs. They’ve played well away from Gillette recently against two staunch home teams, scoring a huge 1-0 win at NYCFC, and then earning a 1-1 draw at LAFC.

Despite losses in their last two trips to Toronto, New England has held their own at BMO Field with a respectable 3-4-5 record. They even produced six straight results there (3-0-3) prior to the pair of defeats in 2016 and 2017.

Comment: We’re going to see two struggle teams go head-to-head on Saturday in a match that could go either way. I’m giving the edge to Toronto, who are desperate to give their fans something to cheer about in a season that can only be classified as a disaster.

Tony: TFC 2 Revs 2

Comment: Although both clubs will likely miss the playoffs this season, they’re still not out of contention, so expect a dogfight. Matches here have been high-scoring, especially in recent weeks, with TFC outscoring opponents 15-11 in their past five matches at BMO Field. The earlier affair between these clubs at Gillette was chippy (Giovinco red card) and saw five total goals. The Revs need a win, but so does TFC. It has the potential for a lot of goals, so watch it end up 1-0.
